Insurance denied a specialist visit as "not medically necessary," even though my own doctor sent the referral.

The appeal process is spread across five different PDFs on their portal, and they don't even match each other.

Has anyone found something that walks you through an appeal step by step? I'm just guessing what paperwork they want next.

  1. Keep a paper trail of every call. Learned that the hard way after they lost my first appeal entirely.

  2. Insurance companies count on people giving up after PDF number three. Keep pushing!

  3. insurance appeals are basically an unpaid part time job, hope it works out

    Anonymous Badger,

  4. Appeals like this are so deliberately confusing, like they're hoping you give up before page three. Hope it gets sorted.

    Anonymous Armadillo,

  5. I recommend requesting the itemized denial letter in writing before appealing; it clarifies exactly which code they are disputing.
