Went in for what I thought was a routine cleaning and left with a treatment plan that has four figures on it and a hygienist who wouldnt quite look me in the eye when she said it.

I asked if any of it could wait and got a very professional "I wouldn't recommend waiting" which is doctor speak for pay me now or pay more later.

Called my insurance after and found out dental maxes out around what one of the four procedures costs by itself, so the rest is just mine to figure out.

I keep rescheduling the actual appointment. Not sure how long you're allowed to do that before it becomes a new problem.

  1. Had almost the same conversation with my dentist last month Not fun always feeling like theres a clock on it

  2. Dental coverage structured this way is unfortunately common. It may be worth asking the office for an itemized breakdown by priority before agreeing to the full plan at once.
