#healthcare #work

I work forty two hours a week at a job that calls me full time on paper and part time on the benefits chart. Found that out for real last month when I tried to add health insurance during open enrollment and got told I'm half a point under the eligibility threshold.

So I'm paying for an ER visit from June out of pocket on a payment plan while still clocking the same hours as the guy next to me, who happens to be two months longer at the company and somehow qualifies.

My manager says it's an HR formula thing and there's nothing he can do, which might be true but doesn't make the invoice feel any smaller.

I don't even know what I'm asking for here. Just tired of being full time everywhere except the one place it would actually help.

  1. This happen to my cousin also, since three years she work full time but counted different for benefits. Is very frustrating and company never explain clear.

    Anonymous Heron,

  2. this is exactly how my last job worked too and it drove me insane because they would adjust everyones hours right around open enrollment every single year and nobody could ever prove it was on purpose so you just ate the cost and kept showing up because what else are you gonna do when rent is due

    Anonymous Finch,

  3. Wait, this happened basically the same way to someone I know... now I'm double checking my own hours just in case.
