Just got a dental bill for $1,400.

Before the procedure my insurance said it was "covered." Apparently covered means they pay 30% and the rest is on me.

Nobody mentioned that before they drilled into my teeth.

1. Dental insurance is basically a scam. $1,500/year cap and one crown is $1,400. What's the point?

2. always ask for a predetermination from insurance before any non-emergency dental work. they'll tell you exactly what they'll pay
