I run a small copywriting business. Six months ago I had 14 steady clients. Now I have 4. The others either built in-house AI workflows or just stopped needing content at all. I'm not against AI but I genuinely don't know how to compete or pivot. Open to any ideas.

  1. I pivoted to AI training data work. Companies pay well for human-written examples and evaluations of AI output. It's not glamorous but it kept my freelance income stable.

    Anonymous Wombat,

  2. Strategy and brand voice work is still holding up better than general copywriting. Clients who need someone to own the editorial direction, not just produce content, are still out there.

    Anonymous Kangaroo,

  3. Commenting so I can find this later. I'm in the exact same spot with graphic design work.
