How do you get a job to actually respect a cutoff time without turning into the person who 'has an attitude about communication'? My director added me to a new group chat last week just so he can message me on weekends about stuff that was never actually urgent come Monday. I tried letting it sit until the work day started and then got asked in a meeting why I was slow to respond. Does anything exist that holds non urgent messages until actual work hours instead of me manually deciding what counts as an emergency every single weekend? Any advice?

  1. my old job did this too. the trick that worked for me was muting the channel entirely and only checking it monday morning, took about a month of awkward meetings before they stopped expecting instant replies
