#remotework #returntooffice

My company knew I relocated to Nashville when they announced permanent remote work in 2022. They signed off on it. My manager knew. HR knew. I bought a house here. My partner found a job here. Our whole life rebuilt itself around something that, looking back, was never actually a written promise.

Now it's five days a week in the Seattle office starting August 1st, "no exceptions for personal circumstances." I keep waiting to feel angry. Right now I'm still in the part where I'm trying to figure out if this is real.

  1. They knew. They always knew. RTO was always on the table and they let people move anyway.

    Anonymous Hawk,

  2. "No exceptions for personal circumstances" is a sentence someone actually wrote and sent to people.

    Anonymous Ibis,

  3. This is happening everywhere right now. It's a quiet way to push people out without showing up in a layoff count.
