Built a small freelance photo editing site for six years. Steady little stream of clients, nothing huge, just enough to cover rent some months.

Logged in Monday and the domain was just gone. Registrar says it got flagged and pulled without much explanation, some policy sweep that apparently caught a bunch of small sites at once.

Support ticket has been open four days. Every client who had my old link now gets a parked ad page instead of a portfolio.

Starting over under a new domain. Does anything actually monitor your domain status and alert you before something like this happens, instead of just finding out when clients start emailing about a dead link?

  1. This happened to a colleague of mine as well. She was able to get it resolved, but it took nearly three weeks and several phone calls. I would recommend keeping a backup of your site files somewhere independent of the registrar. Hope it gets sorted soon.
